Bookseller & Senior Buyer, firstname.lastname@example.org
Bruce is undoubtedly the gentleman of New Zealand bookselling. Beginning his bookselling life over 40 years ago, and armed with a degree in history, Bruce has managed and owned stores in Wellington and Dunedin prior to joining the University Book Shop team. As our Senior Buyer (and with a wealth of experience to call on) Bruce gets the first pick at what's new and likely to amuse, entertain, enthral and elucidate readers.
Bronwyn Wylie Gibb
Bookseller & Buyer (fiction and stationery); Events & Promotions, email@example.com
Bronwyn has over 18 years’ experience with the University Book Shop, along with bookselling in leading independent stores in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. With an undergraduate degree in classics, and a Masters in Biomedical Ethics her interests are broad ranging, but particularly focus on literary fiction, crime, interesting non-fiction, as well as an ever expanding range of quirky stationery and eclectic gifts. She also co-ordinates the many events and book launches we have both on and offsite, balancing books, bouquets, platters, authors and publishers with aplomb. Bronwyn is a bookaholic and reads and blogs vociferously. Read her blog as 'Constant Reader' at the UBS Review of Books: theubsreviewofbooks.wordpress.com
Craig is the cheerful smile as you walk in the door. With an undergraduate degree in Visual Culture and Film Studies, and a Masters in Fine Arts (Photography) Craig has an eye for detail and enjoys books on history, politics, society, culture, media, film, design, architecture… the list goes on. Being a details man, Craig also enjoys taking special orders for customers and using his well refined research skills to hunt out books from all over the globe.
Although working for many years as the company's cashier, Kirsten is thriving as a bookseller with very insightful assessments of books she's reading. Well qualified, with an MA in English (focusing on Dickens) and a teaching degree, Kirsten reads widely particularly contemporary fiction. She also has her finger on the pulse of web orders and mail orders and has a wealth of information built up over more than 20 years with the University Book Shop.
Beth recently completed a BA (Hons) in French and Linguistics, and is now working through a BA (Hons) in Music where she's training to become an opera singer (which we love about her!). Being from Generation Potter we were thrilled to help Beth realise one of her life's dreams by opening an embargoes box on the latest launch date. Beth still reads lots of YA fiction and seems to have an almost instant recall for where books are located and identifying that one 'with the blue cover' a customer might be trying to remember.
The University Book Shop has always had a special set of students who combine study and work. Anna is a fifth year student studying degrees in law and history, and also acts as a host for international students. Anna works part-time at both UBS On Campus and UBS Great King Street and still manages to find time to read in her busy schedule.
Harry is another of our part-time students who, coincidentally, is also completing a Bachelor of Music in Classical Performance here at the University of Otago. He is outgoing, positive, welcoming, fun, and currently at an Italian Opera Summer School! We look forward to him returning back to us at the end of July.
